Welcome to the

Violin Workshop

of Felix Habel

modello Ornati

Born and raised in Germany I came to Italy in 1992 to attend the International Violinmaking School "Antonio Stradivari" in Cremona where I graduated in 1996. I stayed another four years in Cremona in order to perfect my skills in classical lutherie working in some of the most renowned workshops.
Parallel to my classical apprenticeship I have always been interested in building electric bowed instruments. So, in 1995 the prototype of the CETVS electric violin was born and in 2003 the EUB (electric upright bass).
In the year 2000, after eight years in Cremona the time came to leave the city of "Stradivarius" and to seek direct contact with the musicians. So I moved to central Italy (in Abruzzo), to a small village called Casoli di Atri.
In 2006 I finally opened my new workshop in Via delle Maggiolate
where I work on:

· building of bowed instruments as violins, violas and cellos
· building of the instruments that take part of the CETVS line
· restauration, and maintainance of bowed instruments (bridge, soundpost, etc.)
· set-up of bowed instruments (soundpost regulation, Hutchins mode matching etc.)
· rehairing and maintainance of bows
· maintainance of all kind of stringed instruments (like guitars and basses)
